Neoporteria nidus f. senilis
62,00 kr
Neoporteria nidus f. senilis, also known as Eriosyce senilis, is a rare and striking cactus, valued for its compact globular shape and its impressive crown of long, thin, whitish spines resembling strands of hair. These silky spines create a "nest" effect, protecting the plant from intense sunlight and retaining moisture in its natural environment.
Native to the arid regions of Chile, this cactus grows in mountainous and coastal areas, where it survives extreme drought and fluctuating temperatures. When mature, it stands out for its vibrant flowers, bright red or deep pink, which create a striking contrast with its spiny structure.
Care instructions
To maintain the health and beauty of this unique cactus, it is essential to provide a well-drained environment and proper light exposure:
🌿 Light: Preferably strong direct light. It needs at least 6 hours of sun per day to encourage flowering and optimal growth.
🌡️ Temperature: Tolerates temperatures between 5-35°C, but must be protected from frost (below 5°C). In the cold season, keep it in a dry and cool place.
💧 Watering: Minimal! Water once every 2-3 weeks in the warm season and once every 4-6 weeks in winter. Avoid overwatering, as it can cause root rot.
🌱 Soil: Very well-drained soil, ideally a mix for cacti and succulents, with a high content of sand and gravel.
🌿 Fertilizing: Apply a weak fertilizer for cacti (NPK 5-10-10) once every 2 months during the growing period (spring-summer).
🪴 Repotting: Recommended once every 3-4 years, to allow roots to develop and to renew the soil.
Synonyms: Neoporteria nidus f. senilis.
