Strelitzia reginae H85 (XL specimen)
Strelitzia reginae, also known as the "Bird of Paradise", is a perennial plant native to South Africa. It is prized for its spectacular flowers, which look like a colorful bird in flight, with vibrant colors of orange and blue. The leaves are elongated, spear-shaped, and dark green.
This plant prefers a bright environment and can tolerate direct sunlight, although it also does well in indirect light. The ideal soil is well-drained, and the plant needs regular watering to maintain its health, but is relatively tolerant of drought conditions once it is well established.
Location: bright area, without direct sun.
Watering: Keep slightly moist, but let the soil dry out between waterings.
Temperatures: 18 degrees Celsius - 30 degrees Celsius.
Substrate: well drained. Ideally a mixture with perlite or bark to aid drainage and aeration.
Fertilization: fertilize every few weeks during the growing season (spring, summer, fall).
Strelitzia reginae can reach heights of up to 2 meters. Indoors, due to its large size, it is usually placed in large, well-lit spaces.
