Phalaenopsis Sweet Memory Liodoro peloric & normal flowers LID08
Phalaenopsis Sweet Memory ‘Liodoro’ is a hybrid prized for its intensely fragrant flowers, with a fresh citrus note. The fragrance is most noticeable in a bright space without strong drafts, while the plant is blooming and the temperature is pleasant.
Light and the right location. Provide plenty of filtered light, near an east-facing window or some distance from a south-facing window. Direct summer sun can scorch the leaves; too little light prolongs the interval between blooms. Avoid moving the plant repeatedly once the flower spike begins to form.
Watering. Water when the roots turn silvery and the bark is almost dry. Water thoroughly, then let the excess drain away completely. Water left between the leaves or in the decorative pot cover encourages crown and root problems.
Temperature and fertilizing. A stable indoor temperature with gentle ventilation is suitable. During the growing season, apply diluted orchid fertilizer after watering; small, regular doses are safer than concentrated fertilizing.
Substrate, repotting, and the flower spike. Repot after flowering or when the bark has broken down, using an airy orchid substrate. A green flower spike should not be cut automatically: it may branch. Cut it only if it dries out completely.
Practical signs. Very dark leaves and a lack of growth may indicate insufficient light. Soft or brown roots after watering indicate excess moisture. Firm leaves, roots with green tips, and regular new growth show that the plant is adapting well.
Flowering and buds. The flower spike usually appears after a period of balanced growth, when the leaves are firm and the roots are active. Once the buds have formed, avoid sudden changes of location, large temperature fluctuations, and allowing the substrate to dry out completely, as these may stop some buds from developing. Mature flowers last longer in a bright location away from hot air or very ripe fruit.
Seasonal rhythm. In summer, with stronger light, the substrate may dry out more quickly; in winter, with lower light levels, the interval between waterings increases. Monitor the roots and the weight of the pot rather than following a fixed schedule. Repotting is easier after flowering, when new root tips appear: remove only roots that are completely hollow or soft, and leave the plant without fertilizer for a few days after the procedure.
