Microsorum thailandicum (Avatar fern)
Microsorum thailandicum is a rare exotic fern native to Thailand - one of the few varieties with naturally blue (metallic blue) leaves on the planet. It became famous after it was used as a natural setting in the making of the movie Avatar, it proved that despite its very exotic appearance and the fact that it is a really rare plant, it is also very easy to grow.
Growing recommendations : Lower brightness, medium-high humidity. It is considered a resistant fern, which easily adapts to environmental conditions, keeping its color. The ideal plant for the terrarium, but it also grows well in apartment conditions. Spraying and maintaining a high humidity helps to accentuate the color.
It can also be grown as an epiphytic or lithophytic plant, as long as the appropriate humidity is ensured.
The reproduction of the plant is done by spores (usually present on the back of the leaf) or by rhizomes that can later be divided. When reproduction is desired, it is recommended to plant in Sphagnum Moss, in a terrarium with a controlled microclimate, although reproduction can also happen spontaneously, under normal conditions.
Fertilization can be done with a very diluted orchid fertilizer. Many breeders use a dose of only 10% of the indications on the package.
Watering will be done by consistent sprays - this fern has shallow surface roots and is sensitive to overwatering.
The decorative bowl is not included in the price.
