Hoya pubicalyx 'Reva' is a vigorous cultivar prized for its narrow, glossy, dark green foliage, irregularly covered with silver splash markings. The pots are lush, and the vines can be trained onto a support or left to grow trailing. The silver pattern naturally varies from leaf to leaf, so the same plant may simultaneously bear almost entirely green leaves and heavily marked ones. It produces umbels of fragrant, waxy, dark purplish-red flowers.

Name and origin. Hoya pubicalyx Merr. is a species accepted by Plants of the World Online, native to Luzon Island, Philippines, where it grows as a vine in the humid tropical biome. The name was published by Elmer Drew Merrill in 1918 in the Philippine Journal of Science.

'Reva' is a seed-grown selection obtained by horticulturist Dale Kloppenburg and named in honor of his mother.

Foliage and growth habit. The leaves are narrow, glossy, and dark green, with irregularly distributed silver spots and splashes. The density of this pattern varies from leaf to leaf and may change as the foliage develops; this variation is part of the selection's appearance. The plant has a vining growth habit and vigorous growth, while the length and density of the vines vary between individual plants and batches.

Flowers and fragrance. Mature flowers are grouped in umbels and have dark purplish-red hues, similar to those found in other Hoya pubicalyx selections. They are fragrant, but fragrance intensity and color expression may vary between flowering periods and depending on growing conditions. Flowering depends on the plant's maturity; specimens are shipped according to the stage selected on the product page.

The ceramic pot is not included in the price.

Substrate: use an airy, well-draining mix suitable for epiphytic species. We recommend the professional substrate for Hoya and Anthurium - SG Mix.
