Hoya carnosa 'Tricolor' (Krimson Princess) is a classic cultivar with central variegation and is the selection commercially known as Krimson Princess. Young foliage may develop pink, red, or purple tones, while the pattern naturally varies from leaf to leaf. The plant forms decorative vines and produces umbels of waxy, pinkish, fragrant flowers. It is one of the classic Hoyas, loved by generations of growers. Its colorful leaves make it easily recognizable.

Horticultural identity. The accepted name of the species is Hoya carnosa (L.f.) R.Br. The combination was published by Robert Brown in 1810, based on the name Asclepias carnosa L.f.

Foliage and growth habit. The leaves are thick, glossy, and oval, with an irregular central area in cream, yellow, or pale green, surrounded by green margins. New growth may display pink, red, reddish-brown, or purple tones that gradually fade. The proportion and outline of the variegation differ from one leaf to another. The vines can be allowed to trail or trained onto a support.

Flowers and fragrance. Under good growing conditions, the plant may produce umbels of waxy flowers ranging from pale pink to pink-purple, with a darker center. The flowers are fragrant, and the intensity of the fragrance may vary between blooms. The old claim that bright light or fertilization directly results in pinker flowers has not been retained, as this relationship was not verified in the primary sources consulted.

The decorative pot is not included in the price.

Substrate: use an airy, well-draining mix suitable for epiphytic species. We recommend the professional substrate for Hoya and Anthurium - SG Mix.
