Hoya carnosa is an epiphytic or lithophytic vine native from southern China to Laos, Japan, and Taiwan. The foliage is glossy, elliptic, green, and non-variegated. It has a climbing habit. This lot is the green form of the species, in a standard pot—not a named selection and not the specimen mounted in a shell. Under good growing conditions, it produces waxy, white-pink, fragrant umbels, often easier to notice in the evening. Flowering depends on the plant’s maturity and growing conditions.

Foliage and growth. The leaves are opposite, thick, glossy, and elliptic to ovate. The green color may be darker or lighter depending on the light. The silver flecks, when present, are characteristic of the species, not variegation, and this is not Freckles / Silver Splash. The stems attach themselves and climb.

Flowers and fragrance. The flowers are white-pink, with a darker corona toward the center, grouped in umbels. They are waxy, star-shaped, and fragrant, often easier to notice in the evening. In the Secret Garden lot description, the flowers last approximately one week. The color may be whiter or pinker depending on the conditions. Identity. The accepted botanical name is Hoya carnosa (L.f.) R.Br., published in 1810, based on Asclepias carnosa L.f. The species is native from southern China to Laos and from Japan (southern Kyushu) to Taiwan. This lot is the green form, not 'Krimson Queen', not 'Freckles', and not the specimen mounted in a shell.
