Eriosyce senilis, also known in horticulture by the older name Neoporteria senilis, is a cactus native to Chile, valued for its extremely dense and decorative spination. The long, fine, and often twisted spines intertwine around the plant’s body, creating a whitish, almost fluffy appearance, clearly visible in the specimens from the photographed batch.

The spine color varies within the species, ranging from white and cream to yellow, brown, or almost black. Young plants are globular, while mature specimens may become shortly cylindrical. • Light: prefers a very bright position, with direct sunlight or filtered sunlight. Plants unaccustomed to strong sun should be acclimatized gradually.
• Substrate: very porous, mineral-based, and excellently drained. The species is sensitive to waterlogging.
• Watering: moderate during the active growing period, only after the substrate has dried out. Excess water increases the risk of rot.
• Winter: keep predominantly dry, in a bright and well-ventilated space.
