Full description and specifications

Cuphea hyssopifolia , also known as False heather , Texas flower or Mexican lavender , is a perennial ornamental plant, originally from Mexico and Guatemala. This plant is appreciated for its compact appearance and delicate flowers, which add color and texture.

Main features:

Leaves : The leaves are small, lanceolate, and placed on thin stems. They are dark green and glossy, somewhat resembling hyssop leaves (from where the species name "hyssopifolia" comes from).

Flowers : The flowers are small, tubular, and usually have shades of purple, pink or white. They are very abundant and cover the plant continuously throughout the year in warm climates, or seasonally in colder areas.

Stems and growth : Cuphea hyssopifolia is a low-growing plant, usually reaching heights of about 30-60 cm, with a branched and compact growth habit. It spreads forming dense bushes, which makes it ideal for borders, rock gardens or mass plantings.

Care : Cuphea hyssopifolia prefers well-drained soils and exposure to partial or full sun. It is relatively drought tolerant once established, but prefers regular watering to maintain abundant flowering. It is a heat-resistant plant, but it does not tolerate negative temperatures, which is why in Romania it will be grown indoors during the cold season.
