Ceratostylis retisquama (syn. Ceratostylis rubra) is a small-sized orchid that grows as an epiphyte in warm to very warm climates, found in the Philippines at altitudes up to 500 meters. This plant has a round pseudobulb and a tough, narrow-sickle-shaped leaf. The flowers, about 2.5 cm in size, emerge from the dry, brown sheath located at the base of the pseudobulb and develop in dense clusters. This orchid blooms freely in almost all seasons, producing a single flower or a pair of short-lived flowers that appear on a short stem at the new growth at the base of the pseudobulb.

Ceratostylis retisquama can be mounted in wooden slat baskets or on cork and is an easy plant to grow. It is ideal for growers who want an orchid that blooms frequently and can be easily cared for through simple cultivation methods.
