Camellia williamsii 'Debbie' - XL flowers, double (frost resistant)
Camellia williamsii 'Debbie' is a popular variety of Camellia williamsii, a Camellia hybrid that was obtained by crossing Camellia japonica and Camellia saluenensis. This plant is known for its attractive flowers and long flowering period.
Camellia 'Debbie' is a relatively slow-growing shrub that can reach heights of 2-4 meters, with a dense crown and arching branches. The leaves are dark green, glossy and lanceolate, with a texture similar to tanned leather.
The flowers of this variety are large, double or semi-double, with a diameter of approximately 10-12 cm. The color of the flowers varies from intense pink to purple pink, with a darker shade towards the edge of the petals. The flowers appear from winter to early spring and have a discreet fragrance.
Placement: Camellia needs a lot of light but does not tolerate direct sunlight throughout the day. It is recommended to place it in cool, partially shaded but bright spaces, with constant humidity. In the climatic conditions of Romania, the plant withstands well outside - provided it is planted in the garden, in a protected place, away from wind/blizzard. It does NOT tolerate large temperature differences well (moved inside-outside, from hot to cold or vice versa)!
Soil: it prefers slightly acidic soil, but it also grows well in neutral soil - in the garden, this aspect can be improved by administering some sulfur supplements.
Propagation: By cuttings.
It can withstand temperatures of -15 degrees Celsius.
Height with pots included: approx. 40-60 cm
