Aglaonema pictum ‘Tricolor’ is one of the most spectacular and sought-after Aglaonema varieties, thanks to its unique leaves, which resemble natural camouflage. The leaves are oval, thick, and feature a distinctive pattern in three shades of green: dark green, light green, and gray-green. This exotic plant originates from the tropical forests of Southeast Asia and is prized both for its ornamental appearance and its low-maintenance requirements.

Care

Light

It prefers bright, indirect light to maintain the intensity of the colors on its leaves.

Its tolerance for lower light makes it ideal for less brightly lit indoor spaces, but the variegated colors may become less vibrant.

Avoid direct sunlight, which can burn the leaves.

Temperature

It grows best at temperatures between 18–27°C.

It is sensitive to cold and does not tolerate temperatures below 15°C.

Avoid cold drafts and sudden temperature changes.

Humidity

It prefers moderate to high humidity.

In dry spaces, mist the leaves periodically with water or use a humidifier.

Avoid overwatering the leaves to prevent spots or mold from developing.

Watering

Keep the soil slightly moist but not waterlogged.

Water the plant when the top layer of soil feels dry to the touch.

Make sure the pot has good drainage to prevent water buildup and root rot.

Soil

Use a well-draining soil mix, such as a houseplant mix, combined with perlite or peat to improve drainage and aeration.

Fertilization

Fertilize the plant once a month during the active growing season (spring and summer) with a balanced liquid fertilizer for foliage plants.

During winter, reduce fertilization because the plant enters dormancy.

Repotting

Repot the plant every 1–2 years or when the roots fill the pot.

Choose a new pot with drainage holes and use fresh soil.

Pruning and maintenance

Remove dry or damaged leaves to maintain a neat appearance.

Pruning is rarely necessary because the plant grows slowly.

Common problems

Yellowing leaves: May be caused by overwatering or underwatering.

Soft leaves: Often indicate root problems caused by stagnant water.

Pests: It may be affected by mealybugs, aphids, or spider mites. Inspect the plant regularly and treat it with a suitable insecticide if necessary.

📌 Note: The intensity of the vein color and the leaf pattern may naturally vary from one specimen to another, as well as depending on the light and the plant’s age. The leaves may have minor cosmetic imperfections, scratches, or marks caused during handling and transport, without affecting the plant’s health or development.

Height including pot: approximately 20 cm

Young leaves may sometimes have less noticeable variegation, but it becomes clearer as the leaf matures.

The decorative pot is not included in the price.
