Pachypodium lamerei , also known as the Madagascar palm, is a spectacular succulent plant native to the island of Madagascar, prized for its tall, cylindrical, spine-covered stem and crown of long, green, pointed leaves. Although it resembles a palm, it is related to plants in the Apocynaceae family and behaves like a succulent, storing water in its stem.
