Selenicereus (Epiphyllum) chrysocardium - flori parfumate, exemplare mari
Selenicereus chrysocardium , also known as Marniera chrysocardium , is a spectacular epiphytic cactus, native to the tropical forests of Mexico. It is valued for its long, flat, ribbon-like leaves and large, fragrant flowers, which are particularly decorative. The plant is ideal for hanging pots.
Stems : The stems are flat, succulent, ribbon-shaped, with wavy or serrated edges. They can reach lengths of 1-2 meters, making them ideal for hanging pots or to create decorative effects.
Flowers : The flowers are large (20-30 cm in diameter), white or cream, with very visible golden stamens. They are fragrant and open at night, attracting nocturnal pollinators. Flowering occurs on mature plants, usually under optimal care conditions.
Roots : The plant has aerial roots, characteristic of epiphytic cacti, which allow it to absorb moisture from the air.
Growth : It is a vigorous plant, with rapid growth in favorable conditions.

- Add tree bark, perlite, and peat to create an aerated substrate.
Fertilization :
- Apply a weak liquid fertilizer (for orchids or cacti) once every 2-4 weeks during the active growth period (spring and summer).
- Do not fertilize during the dormant period (fall and winter).
Replanting :
- Replant every 2-3 years, using fresh substrate.
- Hanging or wide pots are ideal for accommodating stem growth.
