Bonsai Ginseng - care and characteristics
Ficus Ginseng - a lush and robust bonsai, with minimal care requirements, resistant to diseases and pests.
Ficus Ginseng is presented in the form of a bonsai obtained from an old trunk of Ginseng or Retusa with exposed aerial roots, grafted many times with Ficus Microcarpa, for a more compact appearance of the leaves and crown.
Location - in the brightest place possible, without direct sunlight, away from heat sources (heaters, radiators, etc.). Avoid placing it next to a window that is frequently opened or in areas where it is exposed to air currents.
Watering . The plant is watered when the substrate is completely dry - make sure after each watering, that there is no stagnant water left in the ceramic pot. The amount of water will be regulated by observing the plant, depending on the microclimate (ambient temperature, ventilation, etc.) and watering habits or the time you can devote to plant care in general.
Pruning is done when the crown grows irregularly/unasthetically or when a stronger branching is desired - to be avoided in the cold season.
Fertilize every 2-3 weeks, with a special fertilizer for bonsai or a balanced generic fertilizer (in weak dilution, to avoid sedimentation in the substrate and deposition on the roots).
Replanting can be done every 2-3 years, in wider pots with a maximum of 2-3 cm. Special substrate for bonsai will be used. See here the replanting guide: Replanting - repotting
To keep the shape and size of the plant, replanting can be avoided by reducing the root system - once every 2-3 years, the plant is extracted from the pot, then 30%, up to 50% of the roots are removed. Later, it is replanted and supplemented with substrate for bonsai .
