Tephrocactus geometricus
670,00 Kč
Tephrocactus geometricus is a species of cactus native to the arid regions of Argentina, valued for its unusual and attractive appearance. This succulent plant has a unique geometric shape, consisting of globular segments that give it a particularly ornamental look.
Description:
- Shape: Tephrocactus geometricus is known for its round, almost perfectly spherical segments, which can reach a diameter of 5-8 cm. The segments are bluish-green or grey in color, and mature plants can form structures resembling small pyramids.
- Spines: Unlike other cacti, this species may have very few or no spines at all. When present, the spines are short and thin, not as prominent as in other species.
- Flowers: The flowers are large, about 4-6 cm in diameter, and are white or pale pink. They appear at the top of the segments and usually bloom in the warm season, spring or summer.
- Fruits: After flowering, the plant can produce small fruits that contain the seeds needed for propagation.
Care:
- Light: Tephrocactus geometricus prefers direct sunlight or bright light, which contributes to healthy growth and flower development.
- Soil: A well-drained soil is necessary, specific for cacti and succulents, preferably mixed with coarse sand or gravel to prevent excessive water retention.
- Watering: Watering should be moderate during the growing season (spring and summer), ensuring the soil dries out completely between waterings. During winter, watering should be reduced or even stopped to prevent root rot.
- Temperature: The plant prefers high temperatures and can tolerate exposure to extreme heat. In winter, it should be protected from frost, ideally kept at temperatures above 5°C.
