Sansevieria ‘Canary’

Sansevieria is a plant native to Africa, Madagascar, and southern Asia, and is grown here as a houseplant.

Care:

1. Light: The plant prefers moderate indirect light but can also tolerate low-light conditions. Avoid exposing it to strong direct sunlight, which can burn the leaves.

2. Watering: Sansevieria requires moderate watering. Allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings. During winter, reduce the watering frequency to prevent root rot.

3. Temperature: It does well in most temperature conditions found in a typical home. Avoid exposing it to temperatures below 10 degrees Celsius.

4. Humidity: It does not require special humidity levels; it can tolerate dry indoor air, although occasional misting can help remove dust from the leaves.

5. Fertilization: Fertilize the plant with a fertilizer for succulent plants during the growing season, in spring and summer, once a month.

6. Repotting: Repot only when the roots begin to emerge from the pot, usually every 2–3 years.

Sansevieria is famous for converting CO2 into O2 at night. It is said that in an environment with no fresh air at all, having 6–8 Sansevieria plants per person will produce enough oxygen to live. NASA ranked it among the plants that absorb toxins, especially nitrogen oxides and formaldehyde.

Due to its fragile leaves, this plant may have minor defects caused by handling. These do not affect the plant’s health or development.
