Parthenocissus amazonica, also known as Amazon Jungle Vine, is a rare climbing plant, highly valued in collections of exotic indoor plants. Unlike other Parthenocissus species grown in gardens, this variety is mainly intended for pot cultivation, where it attracts attention with the unique pattern of its leaves and lush appearance.

Botanical characteristics

  • Leaves: large, arrow-shaped, deep green with contrasting silver veins that create a striking effect. The underside of the leaves has reddish shades, emphasizing the exotic nature of the plant.

  • Growth: a climbing plant with flexible shoots that can be trained on decorative supports or allowed to cascade from hanging pots.

  • Particularity: although it belongs to the same family as wild grapevine, this species is grown strictly as an ornamental indoor plant.

Growing conditions (indoors, Romania)

  • Light: prefers filtered light, without direct exposure to the scorching sun rays.

  • Optimal temperature: 18–28°C, avoiding drops below 15°C.

  • Watering: moderate, keeping the soil slightly moist but well drained; excess water should be avoided.

  • Humidity: appreciates a medium to high level of atmospheric moisture.

  • Substrate: rich, light, and well drained, with added perlite or coconut fiber.

  • Rare collector’s plant, suitable for lovers of exotic foliage and climbing plants.

  • Suitable both for growing on vertical supports (trellises, decorative structures) and for hanging pots.

  • Brings a lush, tropical jungle atmosphere to modern interiors or green apartment spaces.

Pot diameter: 19 cm, with climber
