Hoya siariae 'Red' - an endemic species from the Luzon Islands, Philippines. The plant stands out both for its foliage and for its interesting, fragrant flowers, shaped like umbrellas and changing color as the flower matures. At the time of opening, the flowers are pink-transparent, then over the following days the color becomes a rather intense red.
Flowering occurs abundantly and frequently regardless of the season, when the plant receives good light, but the buds are sensitive to temperature and fall off if there are large temperature fluctuations. Placement in areas with strong drafts or rooms where the temperature changes frequently should be avoided.
The leaves are narrow and long, with prominent veins and color spectacularly when the plant is grown in strong light. The plant can be considered a hoya cactus - it requires less frequent watering and has moderate growth. It tolerates a few hours of daily sun without problems, but attention should be paid to the pot size and humidity - if the ambient temperature is very high, the plant can deteriorate quickly, as it does not store a large amount of water in its foliage.
The initial name, published in 2002, is Hoya siarie. Currently, the correct name is considered Hoya blashernaezii ssp. siariae (republished 2014).
