Hoya 'Viola' - XL specimens

Hoya 'Viola' is a horticultural hybrid marketed with the parentage Hoya deykeae x Hoya vitellina. It is distinguished by its large, thick, dark green leaves, with a broad shape and well-defined veins that give the foliage a graphic appearance. The name “Viola” refers to the shape of the leaves. Under good growing conditions, the plant produces umbels of waxy, fragrant yellow flowers while retaining the climbing habit characteristic of the genus.

Foliage and growth. The leaves are broad, oval to slightly heart-shaped, with a firm texture and contrasting venation. The vines can be trained on a support to hold the mature leaves and maintain orderly growth. As with many living plants, the shape and vein pattern may vary slightly between leaves.

Flowers and fragrance. The flowers are small, with a reflexed yellow corolla and a star-shaped white corona, grouped in umbels that may contain more than 20 flowers. Horticultural sources confirm the fragrance but describe it differently, ranging from ginger to citrus; the cautious description is an aromatic fragrance whose perception may vary between individuals and throughout flowering.

Horticultural identity. The parentage Hoya deykeae x Hoya vitellina is consistently reported by several specialist nurseries and also appears for accession SRQ 3153. No primary source from the breeder or formal registration documenting the author and selection date has been identified, so “Viola” is cautiously presented as a horticultural hybrid with consistently reported commercial parentage, rather than as a botanical species.
