The albispina relapse
Rebutia albispina is a species of cactus native to the mountainous regions of Bolivia. It is a small succulent plant, globular or slightly elongated, with a diameter of 5-7 cm.
What makes it special is its appearance "dressed in white". Prominent tubers cover the body of the plant, from where white, soft and radiant thorns grow, which give the plant a "whitish" or "silvery" appearance, hence the name albispina.
The flowers are another point of attraction of this species.
Caring for Rebutia albispina involves exposure to bright light, but not to strong mid-day sun, which can cause burns. It prefers a well-drained soil and a moderate watering regime, allowing the soil to dry completely between waterings. In winter, watering must be significantly reduced.
Rebutia albispina is a popular choice for cactus collectors and for arranging succulent gardens, due to its special appearance and its brightly colored flowers.
