Pachypodium densiflorum is a succulent plant native to Madagascar, where it grows in dry conditions on rocky ground. It is valued for its unusual shape and striking flowers.
Size and shape: Pachypodium densiflorum is a succulent shrub or small tree that can reach heights of 1.5-4 meters. The trunk is thick and fleshy (caudex), covered with long, stiff thorns, and the crown consists of a small number of branches.
Leaves: The leaves are lance-shaped, glossy, dark green, about 10-20 cm (4-8 inches) long. They mainly appear at the tips of the branches and form a sparse crown.
Flowers: Pachypodium densiflorum produces yellow flowers about 4 cm (1.5 inches) in diameter. The flowers appear in clusters at the branch tips during the growing season. The flowers are tubular, with petals arranged in a star shape.
Cultivation: Pachypodium densiflorum is a drought-resistant plant and prefers well-drained soil and full or partial sun exposure. The plant can be grown indoors or outdoors in areas where temperatures do not fall below 10 degrees Celsius.
