Monstera obliqua (sp. Peru - Peruvian form)

Monstera obliqua, Peruvian form, is a collectible aroid prized for its extremely thin and heavily perforated leaves. In mature specimens, the fenestrations can occupy a very large part of the leaf surface, leaving only a fine network of green tissue. It is therefore often described as having a lace-like appearance.

It is a slow-growing climbing plant native to humid tropical forests, including Peru. The leaves are membranous and much thinner than those of Monstera adansonii, with which it is frequently confused. The Peru form is considered the most perforated of the forms currently cultivated.

• Very thin, heavily fenestrated leaves
• Lace-like appearance in mature leaves

• Collectible plant, demanding high humidity

Simple care:

• Light: bright, indirect light. Direct sunlight can burn the leaf's thin tissue.
• Temperature: 20–28°C. Avoid temperatures below 16–18°C and cold drafts.
• Watering: keep the substrate consistently slightly moist. Do not let it dry out completely, but do not leave the roots sitting in water either.
• Humidity: high (ideally 70–90%). It grows best in a cabinet, indoor greenhouse, or near a humidifier.
• Substrate: very airy, aroid / Monstera type.

Collectible plant, suitable for a moss pole, mosstok, or cultivation in controlled humidity. This is not a Monstera for a dry living room: the thin leaves dehydrate quickly in dry air.
