Hoya sp. Padang Sidempuan - huge leaves

Hoya sp. Padang Sidempuan is a collector’s plant with an unconfirmed species identity. The name refers to the town of Padang Sidempuan in North Sumatra and is used for a plant with large, green foliage covered in silver splash. On mature plants, the leaves can reach sizes considered huge for an indoor Hoya. The flowers are reported to be fragrant. Care is simple, and the plant grows steadily.

Horticultural identity. Padang Sidempuan is a commercial toponym, not a botanical epithet. The plant is circulated as an unidentified Hoya, tracked by its place of reference.

Foliage and growth. The foliage is the main reason this plant is offered. The leaves are broad and oval, with a rich green color and irregular silver splash. On young specimens, a single leaf may already appear large compared with the pot; the huge dimensions develop as the plant matures.

Flowers and fragrance. The product is sold with the indication that its flowers are fragrant. Commercial sources disagree about the color, so the color, umbel shape, and fragrance profile are not presented as certain botanical traits. Flowering depends on the maturity of the specimen.

Commercial details. Specimens are sold young, with 1–2 leaves. The huge foliage becomes visible on established plants, not necessarily on the plant material in the pot being sold.
