Echinocereus Viridiflorus
€4,95
Echinocereus viridiflorus is a unique and fascinating cactus, notable for its rare flowers of lime-green or yellowish-green color, an unusual feature in the world of cacti. This small-sized cactus is native to North America, found in the arid regions of the United States (Texas, Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska) and Mexico, where it adapts perfectly to dry conditions and rocky soils.
With a cylindrical shape covered in fine, golden-yellow or brown spines, Echinocereus viridiflorus is highly resistant to cold, enduring low temperatures, which makes it ideal for dry gardens and collections of hardy cacti. Besides its spectacular flowers, this cactus can emit a subtle, sweet scent, attracting pollinators in its natural habitat.
Care instructions
This hardy cactus requires bright light and minimal watering, making it perfect for desert-inspired gardens and well-lit indoor spaces:
🌿 Light: Needs at least 6 hours of direct sunlight daily. It can tolerate partial shade, but flowering will be less frequent.
🌡️ Temperature: Tolerates extreme temperatures between -20°C and 40°C, being one of the few cold-hardy cacti.
💧 Watering: Minimal! Water once every 2-3 weeks in the warm season and once every 5-6 weeks in winter, allowing the soil to dry completely between waterings.
🌱 Substrate: Very well-drained soil, made of sand, gravel, and perlite, to prevent excessive water retention.
🌿 Fertilizing: Apply a weak fertilizer for cacti (NPK 5-10-10) once every 2 months during the growing period (spring-summer).
🪴 Repotting: Needed once every 3-4 years, to give roots space and renew the substrate.
Height with pot included: approx. 8 cm
The plant is sold without flowers. The displayed price is for 1 pot.
