Aspidistra elatior (Pana cocosului)

Aspidistra elatior fully deserves the common name "Iron Plant". It is extremely hardy and has a wonderful ability to thrive with minimal care. Because it also withstands pollution, it has earned another common name: "Bar-Room Plant".

With attractive and lush leaves, aspidistra elatior is the only subspecies grown as a houseplant.

From spring to autumn, Aspidistra can also be placed in a sheltered spot in the garden, on the terrace, or on the balcony, but it must be brought indoors before the first frost.

Aspidistra elatior prefers a loose soil that offers moderate water retention. Watering should be moderate, when the soil is almost completely dry. The quality of the soil will greatly contribute to the healthy and strong growth of the plant.
