A primary hybrid of two botanical species, with Paphiopedilum Glaucophyllum as the seed parent and Paphiopedilum Primulinum (Critically Endangered species in the natural habitat, listed on the IUCN Red List) as the pollen parent, Paphiopedilum Pinocchio is a horticultural taxon that delights with successive flowerings, during which each flower can remain on the floral stem for 4-5 weeks, compensating for the lack of fragrance through the show offered.

Paphiopedilum Pinocchio is perhaps among the most popular hybrids of the genus, being at the same time a vigorous plant and perfectly recommendable to beginner orchid enthusiasts, developing remarkably both under artificial lighting conditions and under natural light.

An important aspect is represented by the need to change the substrate frequently, at least once a year, as it does not tolerate the aging of the culture medium, and even less its drying and compaction.

The recommended growing temperature must be between 15 °-22 °C, watering will be regular, weekly, accompanied by spraying the leaves and ensuring a high humidity (compared to other hybrids) of 60 - 70%. It prefers partial shade associated with good ventilation.

The flowering season is throughout the year. Since both parents are tericol-lithophyte species - Primulinum being even a calciphilous species (which grows on calcareous soils) - an amendment of sea stones or shells can be applied in the culture medium .
