Full description and specifications

Trichocentrum stacyi (Oncidium stacyi) or Stacy's Oncidium.

Discovered in the tropical rain regions of Bolivia and Peru, this medium-sized epiphytic plant grows in the heights of the forest crown, at altitudes of about 450 meters. It has ovoid-cylindrical pseudobulbs, covered by several pairs of small, dry and overlapping bracts. Each pseudobulb bears a single apical leaf, pendulous, with a cylindrical shape and a pointed tip. The leaf is stiff, leathery and slightly arched. During the spring, the plant develops a racemose inflorescence of approximately 20 cm long, which extends from erect to arched and is characterized by 5-6 small lanceolate bracts. The inflorescence comes from a mature pseudobulb and presents between 14 and 20 spectacular flowers, each with an oblong-ovoid, concave floral bract with a long and pointed tip, which is laterally compressed and triangular in shape.
Flower size: approx. 3-4 cm
