Strelitzia reginae, also known as “Bird of Paradise”, is a spectacular tropical plant, valued for its exotic flowers and large, elegant leaves.

The unique shape of the flowers is associated with the bird of paradise, due to their vivid orange and blue colors.

General description

Leaves: Large, oval, deep green leaves with a waxy texture. They grow on long, sturdy stems, resembling banana leaves.

Flowers: They have a unique appearance, resembling a bird in flight, with orange petals and blue sepals. Flowering may occur several times a year under optimal conditions.

Dimensions: Can reach 1–2 meters tall, and even more in its natural habitat.

Care requirements

Light: Requires plenty of light, preferably direct or very bright indirect light.

Watering: The soil should be kept slightly moist, but not waterlogged; it tolerates dryness better than excess moisture.

Temperature: Preferred between 18–30°C, but can tolerate temperatures as low as approximately 10°C.

Soil: Well-drained, rich in organic matter.

Humidity: It adapts to average air humidity but benefits from occasional misting.

This plant adds a tropical look to any space and is easy to care for if it receives sufficient light.

They may have split or damaged leaves.

Plants are sold without flowers.
