Mammillaria insularis is a cactus species native to Mexico (Magdalena Island, Baja California Sur), rare in cultivation and valued for its delicate appearance and abundant flowering. The plant has a globular or short cylindrical body, covered with tubercles arranged in a spiral, each topped with a tuft of white radial spines and yellow-reddish central spines. These spines, although visible, are not aggressive, making the plant suitable also for indoor collections.

It blooms in spring and summer, producing small pink-violet flowers, numerous, which form a decorative crown around the top of the plant. It is an ideal choice for collectors of rare cacti and lovers of compact and easy-to-care-for fleshy plants.
