Variegated foliage. The leaves are oval, fleshy, and smooth, with complex patterns in dark green, light green, cream, and yellow. Young leaves frequently emerge in shades of pink, red, or purple, then gradually change color as they mature. The pattern, color proportions, and intensity of the shades may naturally vary from one leaf to another and from one plant to another.

Flowers and fragrance. At maturity, the plant may produce umbels of waxy white flowers with pinkish-red centers. The flowers of the 'Lisa' cultivar are known for their intense fragrance and are smaller than those of the typical subspecies Hoya australis subsp. australis. An inflorescence may last for approximately one week. Flowering depends on the plant's maturity and growing conditions.
