Caring for Plants in Lechuza Smart Pots

Ingrijirea plantelor in Ghivece Inteligente Lechuza

Here are some steps to follow when watering plants recently transplanted into Lechuza smart pots:

  • for a period of about 3 months, the plant will be watered normally from above until the roots develop and grow into the water reservoir openings - "growth phase";
  • to check if the roots have developed enough in the new system, after a few weeks you can fill the water reservoir halfway;
  • if the water level drops in the following days, it means the roots have grown into the reservoir openings and you can start using the Lechuza system;
  • fill the water reservoir up to "max." - "wet phase" - LECHUZA now takes care of your plants;
  • if the water level does not drop, it means the "growth phase" needs to be extended - a new test will be done in the following weeks, during which the plant is watered normally from above;
  • once the "growth phase" is over, the reservoir is filled to the maximum and the plant feeds directly from the system;
  • when the indicator level shows "min." you do not need to refill the reservoir immediately - the substrate is still moist enough to supply water to the plant; this new phase is called the "dry phase".

"Dry phase" is different for each plant and depends on various factors: species, plant variety, planter's position, air and water humidity, temperature conditions, and substrate requirements.

We recommend a "dry phase" of 2 - 10 days, except for plants like cacti, where we suggest a little longer.
